1st 2019 Christmas Card

I combined a few challenges and made my first 2019 Christmas card.

I used CC720 this week's colour challenge, TLC723 this week's technique challenge to stamp with an embossing folder and CCC19Jan to add some bling to our January Christmas cards - pearlescent paper and gems!

Poinsettia's in April

I have been making cards for the CCC15 challenge for April and the end of the month is fast approaching and not sure I will be done but here are the first 5 of my cards using the MFP lantern and MFP Poinsettias carefully trimmed.

I have incorporated a couple of other challenges too.

Good Friday Christmas Cards

Well what else do you do on a grey and wet Good Friday other than catch up on your March Christmas cards?  Yes that is how I spent this afternoon and part of the evening. I started the year well with my CCC15 challenge as far as the cards were concerned but I am now a bit behind and my tags need to progress.

I mostly played with Brushos, need more practice, but I also tried Monday's TLC challenge to just use card.  My card was a lovely pearlescent blue but it doesn't look it in the photo.

I used stamps from Chocolate Baroque and some tree dies on this group of cards.

Stamping in white

Yep you read the title right - bit tough on the old eyes but using my daylight lamp helped.

I only truly stamped and coloured on the first card, as I decided to go with sponging on the 2nd.  I coloured the first card with Prismacolor pencils and Zest.  A simple die cut and plain base was all I felt it needed.  This is for the Splitcoast WOW challenge (TLC518) and was posted today to friends we had lunch with last weekend.  Their youngest is our Godson and we found out he is to be Baptised in March - the last weekend.  That is a date for our diaries!

The 2nd card was sponged with distress inks (Shaded Lilac and Faded Jeans with just a touch of Picked Raspberry on the butterfly additions).  I added the little flower sequins and a piece of paper from a Do Crafts paper pack called French Lavender - very appropriate as this is going to France.  This card is for the January Penny Black challenge.

Lauren & Nick

I am sure this card must have got there by now so I believe I am free to post it here. It was mailed to Lauren (our niece) at home but I am sure she and Nick have both seen it by now.  The card may not be as romantic as the proposal but I tried hard

 

They went to Paris for Lauren's Birthday and the question was popped at the top of the Eiffel Tower.  What a great place - Paris was where we went on Honeymoon all those years ago! 

Lauren loves her music and sings beautifully and is a primary school teacher.  Nick is a music teacher in Secondary schools and plays in a couple of bands.

My card uses a new embossing folder by Spellbinders that Dave bought me for Christmas and some older images from Katzelkraft.  The sentiment is computer generated but on this and the Paris I used more than one colour as per the TLC515 challenge. The word Love is a Penny Black die and the hearts border is made with Spellbinders dies.  I started with sketch SC522 but felt the urge to tilt my panel and I will be entering this at Word Art Wednesday - anything goes.

Hope they have a great life together.

Christmas 2015

I know I must have a screw loose but when I read the TLC challenge yesterday and knowing that the January CCC15 challenge is Stars I made these cards - 4 stars and 2 hearts for next Christmas.

I used Waltzingmouse, Power Poppy and one other sentiment stamp for these cards and several ribbons from my stash.

CCC14 - September

Really getting cracking with my Christmas cards now and here are my bakers dozen for September.  Some use the chalkboard technique but others are just me!  I have incorporated a few other challenges too.

Daring Cardmakers - Let There Be Light

This is another last minute card made for the Daring Cardmakers challenge - Let There Be Light.  I have used the lamp from the recently released set by Marks Finest Papers called Poinsettia Blooms.  I chose to emboss the lamp with pewter powder, but would not do it again!  The yellow was sponged with distress ink and the rest was coloured with Copics - although the paper surface wasn't too great with them!  I used a Spellbinders die along the bottom and wove the ribbon through it for TLC401.  The sentiment is die cut with a Cheery Lynn die.  The background paper is MME.

Spring Thank You

My birthday was before the middle of the month and some thank you cards got made and mailed quickly but this one for a good friend is way late.  She sent me a lovely little vase with artificial spring flowers in.  I would love to have it on my desk at work but I cannot guarantee it won't "walk" so it is staying safely here.  This card also has a spring theme and uses two Marks Finest Paper sets - Dogwood Blossoms and Pussy Willows.

I have had a go at the Faux Patina technique (TLC370) but it didn't go too well although it looks OK with this image none the less.  The image is coloured with Copics and Stickles have been used in the centre of the blossoms.

6 MFP Country Church Christmas Cards

12 cards per month is my target for Christmas cards and even though I will actually need more than this getting going early is going to be a great help.
This set of 6 which was originally going to be a set of 4 with the burgundy coloured ink on the pale blue paper, mounted on the red paper I made two more - one in silver and one in brown.  Martha Stewart punches were used for the border and holly.
TLC367 was what started this set off - stamping in  single colour and no colouring in allowed.  The image is the beautiful church from MFP Christmas in the Country and the sentiment is from another set because we do not tend to use the expression Happy Holidays so much here.

FOSTV Challenge 5 for 2012

Hi - I think it is FOSTV challenge 5 but the weeks come round so quickly I can easily lose track.  With this Monday's challenge I decided to make it harder and create a guy card.  Stupidly I also chose to try the Belleek Pottery challenge with it which meant using pale colours - I did use a bit of chocolate and kraft to add a masculine feel.

My card uses the sentiment "Boys never grow up their toys just get bigger and more expensive" and because this is a sentiment only challenge and because toys can be all sorts I decided a couple of cogs would work well.  The embossing folder used is from Cuttlebug and the dies used are from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers and we would love you all to join in our sentiment only challenge this week.

Snowflake Ornament

I have merged the VLVJan2012 week 2 sketch with TLC342 fill the opening - TLC359 is to go back and do one of the ones from last year - I did not know what to go for but eventually chose 342.

I die cut a red scalloped bordered square to go inside the card so red would shine through and tie in with the twine and gems I had used on the front.  As I added the border strips before cutting the opening in the front of the card I have a decorated ornament to use on another card.  The blue DPs are from a pad from DCWV.  The snowflakes are all cut with Spellbinders die and their border strips are used to cut the bottom border with the holey pattern - backed by white paper..

It's your 40th Birthday paint the town any colour you want to

This card combines several challenges - this week's sketch challenge from Splitcoast, this week's technique challenge from Splitcoast and the Penny Black Saturday challenge.

The technique was to use a simple pencil on your card and this is quite challenging as I am no artist but I found an HB pencil  in the pot and gave it a whirl on this cute Penny Black image.  I wish we could buy the sentiment with the word colour spelt as we do here but perhaps I am just fussy.

Step out of your comfort zone!

That was the challenge last Sunday on Sentimental Sundays blog.


 Well I went off to SCS to see about techniques and card folds and ended up using both.  the technique I tried was TLC340  embossed kisses and the card fold I used was a centre step card.

Jousting Zac

Perhaps you might have guessed Zac is about to become a grown up 7.

Zac is our God-son and he and his family are not long back from Ethiopia where they have been serving with SIM.  We are catching up with them all tomorrow evening.  This card is for several challenges - SC352, TLC344 and OCC numbers challenge and uses a High Hopes image which I think is cute in a boyish way.  It is coloured with Copics and the DP is from Stampin Up.
