Shadow Christmas Cards

Vicki is one of my fellow Dirty Girls and a recent beautiful card she created inspired me to try out the shadow stamping technique. Didn't always get it right but I did make 18 more Christmas cards. The Misti was invaluable for this card making session.

I used die cuts, outline stickers and sequins to embellish some of my cards. Thanks for looking.

A Few Thank You's

Rather late posting them here but hopefully they have all reached the recipients.

Here are a few thank you cards I made for Christmas gifts received (yes I am a lucky girl!)

All simple using a stamp from Waltzingmouse which I don't think they sell anymore and a sentiment from Verve.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

Stamping in white

Yep you read the title right - bit tough on the old eyes but using my daylight lamp helped.

I only truly stamped and coloured on the first card, as I decided to go with sponging on the 2nd.  I coloured the first card with Prismacolor pencils and Zest.  A simple die cut and plain base was all I felt it needed.  This is for the Splitcoast WOW challenge (TLC518) and was posted today to friends we had lunch with last weekend.  Their youngest is our Godson and we found out he is to be Baptised in March - the last weekend.  That is a date for our diaries!

The 2nd card was sponged with distress inks (Shaded Lilac and Faded Jeans with just a touch of Picked Raspberry on the butterfly additions).  I added the little flower sequins and a piece of paper from a Do Crafts paper pack called French Lavender - very appropriate as this is going to France.  This card is for the January Penny Black challenge

I am off to create again soon but DT work so you won't see those cards just yet.  Happy Weekend!

Birthday Sack

I used VLV April Week 2 sketch to decorate this sack, deviating from the sketch a little to keep in with the waves theme.  All the blue card was from my scraps tray - yeah!

I wanted to recycle the tissue and cellophane from my Easter flowers but sticking / stitching the layers wasn't quite as straightforward as I hoped and in all my efforts I forgot to stamp my greeting until it was assembled which made this less accurate.  Hey we live and learn!
Images are from Verve and colouring was done with Copics.  I used some nice sparkly embossing powder from Stampendous on the stamped wave.

The sack contains a small gift as part of my sister's Birthday present.
Thanks for looking - enjoy the weekend.

Mojo 340

Last Monday the new Mojo sketch went up and I knew I wanted to use it for a card.  Well it is now Saturday and at last I managed to make my card using the cute Verve bunny I quite recently purchased.  I have kept closely to the sketch.

This is the full view of my card

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter week.

VLVFeb2014 - Week 4

This is another one of my March Christmas cards and thanks to my Mum it fits the CCC14 March challenge of recycling.  Mum dutifully collected buttons over the years and recently I raided her box and pulled some out for cards.  Some have also gone to a Primary School for their craft projects.

The sketch for this challenge is from VLVFeb2014 Week 4.  This one was quite a challenge for me and took more thinking than making.

My card uses Verve stamps, some of Mum's buttons and some embroidery silk through the button holes.  White and a metallic blue embossing powder were used.

Thanks for looking.

Mojo 331

Have had little creative time this weekend but I managed to get this card made for Mojo Monday with the deadline fast approaching.
My card uses embossing folder, corner punch, glimmer mists, sparkly ribbon, various inks and scraps including velum plus stamps from Verve that I have had some while.

VLVJan2014 Week 5 / CCC14

Hello - welcome!
I have another Christmas card to share today using the last VLV sketch of January and the CCC14 challenge for February of non-traditional Christmas colours.  Again I chose purple shades and gold for my card with Verve stamps.

Thank you for your visit.

Less is More & CCC14

Hi I know it is still January but I am working on my 2014 Christmas cards and trying to keep on top of my CCC commitment this year.  For February the challenge is to avoid the Christmas colours - Red, Green and Blue so I went with the regal combination of purple and gold for this card which I am entering in the Less is More Sketch challenge.  The stamps used are from Verve and this is the base sketch.

Ice Cream Kiddie

Hello hope you are drying out and warming up.  If you are feeling chilly think of summer and then this card might fit!
The High Hopes 200th challenge is to use your favourite stamp - too tough!  This is certainly one of my favourites and I have paired it with the Mojo Monday sketch (Mojo327) to come up with this card.  The hearts and papers are chosen to remind of ice-cream.  The main image is from High Hopes and the sentiment and hearts are from Verve.

Thank you for visiting and leave me some love.

VLVJan2014 Week 1

A quick thank you card using this week's VLV sketch and colours.  I have also used my new Spellbinders butterfly dies that were a present from Dave this Christmas.  I did ask for a couple of other dies but this set was a complete surprise!  I used white pearlescent card and then sponged on the ink to give the colour to the butterfly - the background piece does have brown and red on it but it isn't very clear in the photos.  All the papers are from my scrap trays.

Have a great week and keep warm and dry.

VLV Week 4 for December

I need quite a few Thank You cards right now as my MIL needs some and so do we - good to need thank you cards don't you think?

I used the last week of December's VLV sketches to make one of these using a Cuttlebug embossing folder that I have had for some time and rubbed distress ink over it.  The sentiment and star are from Verve and are stamped with Memento ink.  The border is cut using Spellbinders dies.

Thank you for checking this out.

Big Change

Some very good friends have just made a big change in their lives.  They sold their house in MN and drove across country, much of the drive on Route 66 to take possession of a house in San Diego.  The house needs a lot of work - roof, electrical work and plumbing and at the moment it is chaotic and she aches from head to toe with all the sorting out etc. etc.  It will be great when it is sorted and the sun is shining and I know they will love not having to spend the winter shovelling snow.

I made this card originally to get to them in their first week but that is up today and it only made the mail in the UK this morning!  The card is a flip or swing style card.

The houses and the snowflakes on this first side are stamped with stamps from Chocolate Baroque.  The MN was stamped using Just Rite stamps.

The houses are stamped with stamps from Chocolate Baroque and the sun and sentiment are from Verve.  The CA was stamped using Just Rite stamps.

I hope they like this card and will be happy in their new home, and that we get to visit one day!

VLVOct2013 Week5

Hi this is another catch up Christmas card using this months VLV sketches.  The sketch for week 5 was an interesting one and I started with Poinsettias but my images were far too big for the circles so I used snowflakes and changed my design completely.  I used the stamp sets from Verve called Christmas is in the Air and a small one  called Frosty Flakes.  The sentiment is from another company but I can't remember who.

I used an embossing folder on the background paper that I have had in my collection for ages.  The ink colours are Memento Paris Dusk and Teal Zeal.  All the snowflakes were embossed with a clear glittery powder - most of which blew all over me!  Some Mermaid Stickles has been added to the centres of the teal snowflakes.  Thanks once again for checking my cards out.

VLVOct2013 Week 4

I am trying to catch up on some Christmas Cards.  I have been making odd ones for MFP challenges but I have not kept up with my 13 a month for CCC13.    I therefore decided to use the last two VLV sketches for October for Christmas cards.

My week 4 ones sticks very closely to the sketch and uses Verve Holly Jolly ornament stamps with a sentiment from Verve Glad Tidings.  There are 4 red gems on the card but none of them sparkle here and number 4 fades into the paper!

Hope your Christmas cards and projects are coming along fine.

Sadness / Relief

Today has been quite a day!

I had an interview this morning - first face to face job interview with people I didn't know for about 27 years.  It seemed to go OK and my plan was to come home and have some fun in my craft room.

Sadly I have had to make a bereavement card as Dave took a call about the passing of a friend not long after I got home.  Our friend "Brim" (real name Glynn) has been battling cancer for some time and has been in tremendous pain so in some ways it is relief for both him and his wife Wendy.  My heart goes out to her - they were a couple when I first knew them about 38 years ago.  In recent years they have lived in France so we have not seen them.  Glynn was the one who took me out for a test drive in my first car and he was also the one who teased me incessantly about using tissue in my clothes when I packed to stop them creasing when we went on a canal boat trip with them before we even had a car.  He was also so precise in his DIY - all the screw heads had to be in the same direction - I hope my gem positioning is OK!!!

I have very loosely interpreted Week 3 sketch for VLVJun2013  and used Verve stamps.

Thanks for looking.

VLV May Week 4

Sorry if you have felt bombarded with posts today but I wanted to get all my May VLV cards posted in time to meet the challenge deadline.

Another anniversary card for week 4.  I used a Gina K stamp with some 2nd generation ink and a perfect pearls mist to make the background which I then embossed with a Spellbinder m-bossabilities folder.  The sentiment is from Verve.

Thanks for looking - enjoy the rest of the week.

VLV May Week 3

This is my 3rd card for VLV for May.  I made this one for my Mum to give to my sister and her husband on their Anniversary which is today.

VLV May Week 2

Another card for VLV for May.  This one had an inspiration picture too but I have ended up with far less white in my card than intended!  Sentiment is from Verve.

VLV May Week1

This card using the first week of May sketch for VLV uses a much loved Verve sentiment with one of the stars - both been in my collection quite a while. Papers are digital ones.
