Happy Birthday Seth

Celebrating your 18th Birthday is something special and this card went off to USA for just such an occasion.

The image is digital (michexist) and was coloured with Copics and Prismacolor pencils. The 18 was die cut with Cuttlebug dies and the sentiments are from MFP (MFP stamp shop) cut out with MFT dies.

Thanks for looking. Have a great and colourful week.

High Hopes 250 & WT515 Maths Notes

Hi everyone - sorry I have been quiet - broken laptop means everything related to PCs takes longer and preparing for my lessons and dealing with email has taken all my computer time.

One of my Maths students is my niece Karita and I bought this notebook in a sale and today decorated it up for her.  I used the High Hopes bookworm with letters cut with Cuttlebug dies.  I used an oval to fit my pink on navy panel.  The bookworm was mainly coloured in a style used by Jane Gill at the Craft Barn today - she was doing some lovely work with flower stamps from Woodware.  The border was cut with a wide border punch which I think is made by Martha Stewart.

This project is being entered into High Hopes challenge 250 and the Splitcoast Ways to Use it challenge WT515

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Back Monday.

MFTWSC161 - Pose!

Took down my box of MFT stamps and pulled out this image for a card I need for an upcoming birthday.  I used the latest sketch MFTWSC161

I used some wrapping paper on the background - one piece embossed and the other mounted on some mirror card.  The piece on the mirror card is just secured with a brad so could be removed and used as a bookmark.  The circular piece was cut with a Spellbinders die and the corner piece with a Cuttlebug die.  The image was stamped with Memento ink and coloured with Copics.  It was cut using a Spellbinders die - one I got for Christmas!

Thank you for looking and hope your week is going well despite the weather.

VLV Week 4 for December

I need quite a few Thank You cards right now as my MIL needs some and so do we - good to need thank you cards don't you think?

I used the last week of December's VLV sketches to make one of these using a Cuttlebug embossing folder that I have had for some time and rubbed distress ink over it.  The sentiment and star are from Verve and are stamped with Memento ink.  The border is cut using Spellbinders dies.

Thank you for checking this out.

Coffee in the Morning

and all day long?

Actually I am not a big coffee drinker but this sentiment does make me laugh and I include tea too!  I have had this set for some time but I can't remember who makes it. I think it might be Impression Obsession.

I have used Spellbinders and Cuttlebug dies and coloured with Copics.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Jugs155

For my FOSTV 39 card please see post below this one or click here

I haven't been able to play along with the Jugs challenge for a few weeks but I have this week.  Mum wanted a card for my nephew, her grandson, who turns 16 this weekend so I used the style of the Jugs challenge with some slightly altered colours - had to use a brighter blue - he supports Chelsea!

I used the pennants for my message and managed to find a Grandson stamp (not sure what make) in my stash to go with the Happy Birthday from MFP.  No other stamping just lots of fiddling with die cuts and scissors!

Thanks for looking and for leaving sweet comments.

VLV September & CCC12

Well I am back from holiday and not working right now.  With more time creating seems more difficult!

I am back working from Tuesday for a few weeks and then I will be moaning that I have no time to breathe - just can't please some people!!!

It is a Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich company, blog hop next week and I got my new stamps yesterday.  I haven't completed any cards yet although I have done some colouring and plenty of thinking.

Today I have two Christmas cards to show you using the sketches from VLV for weeks 2 and 3.  Week 1 was too difficult to start with!  They will be 2 of my 12 for September as part of CCC12.

This card uses the week 2 sketch, some paper scraps from my desk and a lovely deep red ribbon.  The sentiment embossed in gold is from Verve.

The second card uses the week 3 sketch and one of the new expandable dies from Spellbinders ( I just used it on a circle).  Lots of glitter, a sentiment from Verve and 2 different DPs - DCWV for the dark one, Reminisce for the turquoise one.  I also used some plain white card with the Swiss dots folder from Cuttlebug and some perfect pearls!

Now that the temperatures have started to fall and the colours are changing Christmas does not seem that far off.

I hope whatever you have planned you have a great weekend.

VLV August & CCC12

I have been colouring images in spare moments with watercolour pencils, distress markers and peerless colours.  I decided it was about time I turned some into cards so here are this month's VLV challenges with an alternative version for Week 1 too as I tried turning that sketch around.  All the cards use Penny Black images and the week 4 includes 2 images so I am entering it for this month's Penny Black challenge.  As you can see all 5 are Christmas cards - the first 5 of my CCC12 for August.  Last but not least I am entering into the Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge from Sunday to use dies and punches - every single card fits that bill!

FOSTV - sketch challenge

Today over at FOSTV challenge 29 is a sketch.  Now I am not particularly good a following the rules exactly so my card uses the spirit of the sketch rather than the exact proportions.

This card is going today to my Mother in Law for her 92nd Birthday.
As you can see I have used a very traditional flower the pansy from the set Spring Flowers or  Natures Pansies Mini.  If you just want the pansy group they can be found in the set Today, Tomorrow and Always.  I have also used traditional pansy colours of a blue-violet and yellow.  I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder on the plain yellow cardstock and Spellbinders dies. The violet paper is from Papermania and the yellow from Craft Creations.  Copics markers were used on the image.

Well it is your turn now so hop over to Friends of Speedy TV - check out challenge 29 and lets us see what you can create with the sketch.

The prize this week for one lucky person is the set What a Fox.

Two More Christmas Cards

This post is Christmas related - sorry I know we are only just seeing the sunshine.  My cards will be for my CCC12 commitment for June but are also for other challenges.

The first card is for the Sentimental Sundays and High Hopes challenges.  Sentimental Sundays is a sketch with Spots and High Hopes this week is Anything Goes.  The image is High Hopes, the sentiment is from Tim Holtz and the papers are from Papermania.

My second card is for today's OCC challenge to use your favourite Tim Holtz technique.  Well I can't say this is my favourite technique because today was the first time I tried it but I saw Tim on a video showing his reflections stamps and I had to get them.  I found out how to use them with embossing folders so that is what I did on this card.  The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug and I used the Seasonal Reflections Christmas sentiment stamped in Archival black.  The sponging was done with Bundled Sage Distress ink and the berries were coloured with a marker.

Penny Black & CC370

The Penny Black challenge for Easter Saturday was a case-it challenge and I have combined it with the colours from CC370 to make this card.  I have kept the layout and distressing but changed the flower stamp and the colours.  I used damp water colour paper to stamp on to give a more painted effect and rubbed distress ink round all the layers and the card base.  The olive green layer looks very dark in this photo.

Penny Black Easter Extravaganza

This card uses a lovely Penny Black bunny and I hope I have done her justice.  I have coloured the image with Prismacolor pencils and I have used a Cuttlebug embossing folder with Coredinations card as the background.

Lois 4

Wow what an exciting time to have a little girl coming up for 4.  A friend at work asked for a card for Lois who is 4 on Tuesday and this is what I came up with.  I hope my friend and Lois like this very girlie card.

The image is a Messy Rabbit one and it is coloured with Copics.  I have used Spellbinders and Cuttlebug dies and also a punch from Martha Stewart which sadly feels a bit odd now when I use it.  The papers are from Doodlebug

If anyone can share a fool proof and easy way to sharpen punches I would love to hear about it.

Thanks for looking

Pucker Up

It is Friends of Speedy TV challenge week 6 and this week we are making Valentines cards.  I had to make a card that is not my usual thing as my beautiful rose set from MFP with the valentine sentiment has not reached me yet.  I made this simple card using the SFF sketch from last week.  The hearts are just punched, the lemon flower is coloured with Prismacolor pencils and the dots are added with a Cuttlebug embossing strip.

When you open the card this is what you will find.

Please join in the FOSTV challenge this week. We would love to see your creations.

FOSTV Challenge 5 for 2012

Hi - I think it is FOSTV challenge 5 but the weeks come round so quickly I can easily lose track.  With this Monday's challenge I decided to make it harder and create a guy card.  Stupidly I also chose to try the Belleek Pottery challenge with it which meant using pale colours - I did use a bit of chocolate and kraft to add a masculine feel.

My card uses the sentiment "Boys never grow up their toys just get bigger and more expensive" and because this is a sentiment only challenge and because toys can be all sorts I decided a couple of cogs would work well.  The embossing folder used is from Cuttlebug and the dies used are from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers and we would love you all to join in our sentiment only challenge this week.

Hope your week goes well and please pop by Speedy TV and the other players blogs.
