Happy Easter - Christ has risen

Hello - wishing you a very Happy Easter - may you know God's blessing at this very special time.  This is the hymn that is running through my head right now.

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Refrain
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior;
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!

Refrain

Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!

Refrain

This is the card I made for my love.  It is using a cute Penny Black image, a sentiment cut using the Songbird cartridge in my Cricut and a cross cut using a Verve die.  The card base was cut using a Spellbinders die - one from a set my Mum bought me for my Birthday.

I am entering this card in this month's Penny Black March challenge which has the theme Spring.

Dots and Stripes

I haven't played in the High Hopes challenge for quite a few weeks but I decided to use their dots and stripes challenge with the VLVMar2013 Week 4 sketch.  I coloured the sweet image with Copics and used Spellbinders dies to cut it out.  The spotty and stripey papers were from my stash. My flowers were a little bigger than the circle in the sketch but I decided to go with them anyway.

I will pop this card into my stash. Thank you for looking.

More Dogwoods

Having pulled out my Dogwood stamp for my trellis card (see previous post) I used it again on this card with the cracked background from Cracked Hello. The egg is cut with a Spellbinders die and is edged with a gold leafing pen.

Thank you for looking.

Easter Trellis

Cathy Andronicou on the Penny Black blog presented a beautiful trellis card that I knew instantly I wanted to re-create with dies and stamps I had.  I decided to use the pretty Dogwood Blossoms from MFP and my Spellbinders dies to come up with this Easter card for my Mum.  I chose colours after being inspired by the Jugs181 photo which also includes beautiful flowers.  The vine is also a die.

Cathy has good instructions for her card so I was able to use them for this one.  I hope my Mum likes it.

FOSTV65 - Easter

Our challenge today at Friends of Speedy TV (FOSTV65) is to make something with a theme of Easter.  I made several Easter cards for last week's blog hop and I have another to share with you today.  On this one I used bleach again and I have a very different finish to my egg because of the way the bleach reacted with the blue card.  I used the VLVMar2013 Week 3 sketch.  I used Gelatos for the first time on the background and some gel inks with sparkle on the butterfly.

If you play with the FOSTV65 challenge you could win the set called Island Life - it is a really nice set so it is worth getting those creative juices working.

As well as my card I have a little basket to share too.

This one is going to my Mother in Law in her care home.  She will enjoy the assortment of chocolate eggs inside.  I need to make another for my Mum.
I used the rabbit from Garden Bunny on this basket and the paper is from Bo-Bunny - how appropriate!

Thank you for coming to visit - please let me know if you like what I have shared today.

It may be winter outside

but in my heart (aka craft room) it's spring!

We awoke to a cold morning and wet snow falling.  Last year at this time it was sunny and warm.  The big positive is that it is warm in here enabling me to get this card finished.

Some poor souls in the UK are without power and suffering blizzard like conditions and in Cornwall one poor lady lost her life as a result of a mud slide - her flat and others collapsed due to the really wet weather.  It is easy to take a nice warm home for granted.

The card I am sharing today uses the MFP sketch with a twist challenge and Mother's Magnolias image as my starting point.  Papers were from my scrap tray and the deep peach card used for layering was to pick up on the colours in the flower centre.  It was stamped in Memento black and coloured with Copics.  A Martha Stewart border punch was used for the lacy border strip.

Thank you for checking this out and all the blog hop posts this week - I hope you enjoyed it and got some inspiration from all the team.

Have a good weekend and if you are safe and warm give thanks!

This month's New Stamp Set Releases are

Garden Bunny
Featured March 20

Featured March 22
Seed Packets
I first used the Seed Packets (and Garden Bunny) stamps to make some labels for garden pots.  If it ever stops being cold and wet we may be able to plant some things.  The wooden stirrers were stamped in Stazon (no orange for the carrots!) and the sticky labels were stamped in Memento black and coloured with Copics so I hope they hold!
This project (again using both Seed Packets and Garden Bunny plus some Spellbinders dies) is going to be a Birthday card for our Brother in Law who doesn't seem to care what the weather is like when he wants to spend time in the garden. I used pencils to colour the images and Distress ink for the dirt.

This last card uses the Seed Packets set with the set called Love Remains. I have used both the rose and word Roses from that set. To make this card I stamped and embossed the yellow panel and then used bleach to remove the colour before using watercolour pencils to add colour back to the rose and leaves. A spellbinders die was used to cut the heart and the sentiment Plant Some Love is from the Seed Packets set.

Please hop along with us! You have a chance to win one of the above stamp sets! MFP Blog Hop - Spring Things

March Blog Hop!

This month's New Stamp Set Releases are

 Featured March 19
Garden Bunny
Featured March 20
 Spring Things
For my first card I used the little bunny and the Have a Hoppy Day sentiment using the VLV Week 2 sketch.  The DP and ribbon were in my stash and the colouring was done with pencils.
On this card I used just the tulips with some bright DP and a little Cuttlebug corner to make another Easter card. Another simple one - seem to be into orange this month!

For this one I used some bleach again. The fence is actually whiter than this in real life but getting photos on grey days messes with the colours.  The butterfly was coloured with markers after the bleach had dried.

My last card uses some more spring coloured papers with the bunny from the Spring Things set and again will be used as an Easter card.  It was coloured with pencils and the sky sponged in while the image was in the die.

March Blog Hop!

This month's New Stamp Set Releases are

 Featured March 19

Where possible I am using this months sets to make my Easter Cards so I used this cute carrot picking bunny (carrots are more healthy than chocolate don't you know!) with spring papers.  Designs are simple but there is nothing wrong with simple in my book!

I am entering the top card in this week's Jugs challenge to use Green, Orange and White.

FOSTV64 - Something that Moves

Another Monday and another FOSTV challenge.  This was a major challenge in my head and yet when I eventually worked out what I was going to do it came together quite quickly apart from the cutting out of the butterflies!

Our challenge this week is Something that Moves. We all interpreted this task as a card with something moving as part of it so I did a little spinning butterfly.  I thought about swivel cards, pop up cards etc. but I ended up with something more simple.  My shape and colour scheme come from this week's OCC challenge (Analogous Colours and 4 sided regular polygon) and I used Distress Inks plus some bleach.

The MFP sets I used are Ivy and Blossoms, the sentiment from Dogwood Blossoms and the butterfly which is in a few sets Birthday Mini, Old Summer and Today, Tomorrow and Always.

I actually recorded a little video clip to show it moves, but I can't upload it so you will just have to believe me!

Please check out the challenge at FOSTV and the cards from my colleagues.  Once you have done that please show us your moving cards and link them up for your chance to win the MFP set called I'm in Stitches.

Thank you for popping in to see my card.  Please come back tomorrow as it is the start of our March Blog Hop and we have some great sets to share with you.

FOSTV63 - Saint Patrick's Day

My card today for Saint Patrick's Day was actually given to my Mother in Law yesterday for Mother's Day.  I actually made two inserts one for each occasion - I am not sure she will remember to change it next weekend but I thought we would try!

Here are some pictures of my Saint Patrick's / Mother's Day "pinny".

I used various green inks and the stamp sets shown
* Lots of Luck stamp setMother's Magnolia Stamp Set

I also used clear embossing powder, lace, ribbon, a brad, a corner punch and hole punch, a Martha Stewart punch and my Cricut.
