My cards today using Be Virtuous also feature Lotus Blossoms too (from earlier in the week) - how well those sets work together.  I cut the Kimono and the tea kettle using my Cricut.  On the first card I have used gold embossing powder and gilding flakes.

July Blog Hop Day 1 - Lotus Blossoms

This month's New Stamp Set Releases are

 Featured July 9th - Lotus Blossoms

Today's set was right up my street so I played around and created several cards.  I could have kept on but then you would have had nothing to view the rest of the week.  It will appear again soon though for sure.

My first card is actually featured on the MFP Blog but I couldn't resist posting it here too - you should see how much it shimmers in real life.  I used gold embossing powder and then H20s to colour the lotus blossoms on the fan which was cut with the Cricut.  I used this month's mini set Dragonflies on this card too (but they are hard to see in the photo).

My second card is very simple using Memento inks. dies, flowers and a tag with the Happy Birthday message.

 

Card 3 uses the yin-yang symbol cut with my cricut and then embossed with a lotus flower.  The LOVE sentiment is from the set and the Happy Anniversary is from the Celebrate Big stamp set.  The red paper was embossed before adding it to the card base.

My last cut also uses the Cricut for the bridge, flowers from the set coloured with Copics and embellished with Star Dust stickles.  The stripes on the edge are done with fine glitter on double sided clear tape - how messy was that! I did not add a sentiment so I have choices about how I use it.

FOSTV80 - Monochromatic Cards

Hello - sorry to be late posting today.  Many of you know I am looking for a new job well today I had to go to the Job Centre so this morning I have been rather pre-occupied.  I am looking for a morning role so I can do Maths Tutoring in the late afternoon and evenings.  Somehow I will need to slot my card making in there too!

This week is a busy week for Marks Finest Papers.  It is blog hop week as well as our normal challenges.  Friends of Speedy TV have quite a "soothing challenge" this week - Monochromatic cards.

I have two cards to show you today. 

The first one in shades of brown uses Marsh Silhouettes and the new dragonfly mini set being launched this week.  The sentiment is from Hum Along.

My second card with a more wintry feel uses Tree Greetings,  Winter Scenes and for the sentiment from Ice and Snow.

 Here are my cards using Dragonflies.  The first card really shows off the open weave dragonflies simply stamped and then stamped cut out and layered.  H20s were used to add sheen. The 2nd card uses Marsh Silhouettes and a couple of dragonfly silhouettes.

Speedy Fox and Friends - Purple

Purple is a colour I love to play with so when I saw this week's Speedy Fox and Friends challenge was to use purple I had to play along.  I tried to keep my card simple and used acrylic blocks to create my background and then stamped over them - the purples are all Memento inks and the grass image is from the set called Buffalo Spring, the butterfly is from Scenic Selections and the sentiment is from Daffodil Greetings. The card base is an off white pearlescent colour.

Friends of Speedy TV - Challenge 79 - 4th July

Well another new week and a new month and if you are an American a good celebration this week with all the 4th July activities.  I think the Canadians are also celebrating today - Happy Canada Day.

The challenge over at FOSTV is make a 4th July card and this one is already on its way across "the pond" to friends in the USA.  Look out for challenge 79 on the page if you want to play along too.  We have two new team members who have recently joined Trudy and Ginny - make sure you check out their cards too.

I have used a recently released Marks Finest Paper set called Be Proud for this card and the image is coloured with Copics.  The border was cut with a punch from Tonic.  It cuts well but I struggle lining this one up for the first couple of cuts.  The ribbon was from my stash and the blue background paper is from Stampin Up.
