FOSTV80 - Monochromatic Cards

Hello - sorry to be late posting today.  Many of you know I am looking for a new job well today I had to go to the Job Centre so this morning I have been rather pre-occupied.  I am looking for a morning role so I can do Maths Tutoring in the late afternoon and evenings.  Somehow I will need to slot my card making in there too!

This week is a busy week for Marks Finest Papers.  It is blog hop week as well as our normal challenges.  Friends of Speedy TV have quite a "soothing challenge" this week - Monochromatic cards.

I have two cards to show you today.

The first one in shades of brown uses Marsh Silhouettes and the new dragonfly mini set being launched this week.  The sentiment is from Hum Along.

My second card with a more wintry feel uses Tree GreetingsWinter Scenes and for the sentiment from Ice and Snow.

I hope you all have a good week and find time to play along with our challenge which can be found here.  There is a prize up for grabs called From The Woods

FOSTV55 - Recycling

Hi Everyone - todays challenge over at Marks Finest Papers Friends of Speedy TV is a recycling challenge - look for Challenge 55 in the FOSTV category appearing soon.

Well I was surprised how easy this challenge turned out to be.  I started with a 2011 Christmas card that I had kept.  With that card and some cardboard from a cracker box, some ribbon from the crackers which ended up in my handbag on Christmas Day this is the collection I came up with.

The original card was a row of three trees and each tree was layered.  The three layered trees ended up on my 3 cards and the base card trees ended up on my 3 simple tags.

These 3 tags use silver card from the cracker box and ribbon from the crackers.  The sentiment is from the set called All is Calm.  The gems are new.

This card was brayered (onto a bit of the stamp packaging from a recent MFP set) and uses the tree stamp from Tree Greetings and snowflakes from the Winter Scenes set.  Glitter was added to clear tape.

This card uses some wrapping paper as the background (it was round my Cricut when I was given it as a leaving gift), a bauble shape I cut when playing with my Cricut which I ran through an embossing folder and sanded to show the core.  The ribbon is from the original card that I "attacked".

This last card uses the final tree, a star cut from the card that was in the embossing folder when I bought it, some ribbon that was also decorating my Cricut parcel and some new backing paper.  It also uses a recent Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch.

Don't forget to come back every day this week to see the new MFP sets and for your chance to win one set.  We are hopping Tuesday through Friday.

We would also love to see what you can do with our recycling challenge and you could win the lovely sunflower set called "Bring on the Sun".
Bring on the Sun stamp set
Thanks for looking in today.

November Blog Hop starts tomorrow!

As you all know November is the time to gear up for Christmas shopping. Our new sets are released tomorrow and we start this month's blog hop so don't forget to come back then.

The special stamp set we have for you this month is:

"Winter Scenes"
This one is not to be missed and we are showcasing it today along with this month's mini set - "Oh Deer"!

I will start by showing you the simple cards I have made with Oh Deer The first one is for my Brother - I think I am allowed to be rude to him!

The second thing I have to show you also uses Oh Deer and it holds a gift card for my nephew.  I stamped onto a small design Christmas paper with clear ink and then used gold embossing powder - just decided to do something different!

The next two cards use the new Winter Scenes set which I love and I think you will too.  The first card is a simple layout but it shows the stamp off.  I coloured with Prismacolor pencils, added white pen and Stickles on the snow falling and then punched snowflakes and tied them on with embroidery thread before attaching the ribbon bow.

My last card for today is made using the Winter Scenes set and a sketch from VLVNov2012 Week4.  I used the snowflakes, embossed them and then sponged shades of blue distress inks on the panel.  The image was coloured with Prismacolor pencils and Copics.
