Feb Christmas Cards

I have just managed to get my 13 cards done for the month of February.  They are a real mixed bag.   Some include pieces from my class at MCC on stamping techniques and clearly show some better than others.  Other cards include images I coloured and needed to get onto finished cards.  I am going to put them in one long post with a caption on each one.

Resist Technique with sentiment rather too bold

Resist Technique rather lost in the inks

FOSTV61 - Yellow, Fuschia and Black

I am doing a class at MCC and last week we were trying out various techniques of resist.  On this card I tried the Joseph's Coat technique with a set from Marks Finest Papers called Asian Delights.  Now compared to many of my FOSTV team colleagues card this lacks a little class but it was fun to try.  Don't forget to check out all their cards.

I used distress inks and glimmer mists first in yellows and pinks to create the background. Once it was dry I embossed the images in clear embossing powder and heated.  I then added lots of black (Adirondack Pitch Black).  When it was all dry I trimmed and attached to a bright pink panel and stitched it down.  The yellow card base is stamped with the pagoda image and the black panels are embossed.

OK it is now your turn to design a project to meet our colour challenge and you stand a chance of winning the set Enjoy the View.

You can check out the challenge over at MFPSpeedyTV and you will find it as FOSTV61.  Good luck and have a great week.

Men and their football teams!

Today I have two cards to share with you both for guys.  Before I get to them though I wanted to comment on this week's Marks Finest Papers Blog Hop - wasn't it a great one?  The hummingbird was definitely my favourite set this month and now we have lovely new watermarks for our MFP cards.

Both today's cards use VLVFeb2013 sketches.

I used VLVFeb2013 Week1 sketch for this card and lots of masking. I am doing a stamping techniques class at MCC and this week we are doing masking and layering of stamps - this is my first go and is called Blue is the Colour - some of you will know the team supported!  I used stamps from Do Crafts, Stampin Up, two from magazines and a mask to add the spots.

Blue is the Colour

My second card uses the VLVFeb2013 Week2 sketch, lots of embossing and a little stamping using the sentiment from MFP Cracked Hello.

I have two cards to share with you today. This first card uses the featured set for today All Postal with a couple of other MFP sets.  I have used the tiny flower from Ivy & Blossoms set in my "stamp" and the palm tree from Flamingos on Vacation.  It is a very simple card.

My second card has as much inside as on the front.  I used an embossing folder to create the "words" and used one of the Hummingbirds from Hum Along inside my stamp - I masked off the Happy Birthday from that image before inking so I just had the bird.  Inside the card I have used the lighthouse image and sentiment from Island Life and the cracked earth from Cracked Hello.  I used Memento to stamp the images, distress inks on the backgrounds and Copics for colouring in.

I have just one card to share with you today and its inside.  It only uses today's set called Rain Clouds.  How appropriate that set is for the UK when we seem to have had so much rain in the last year!  I used scraps of paper from Papermania for my paper piecing.  The slight sheen on the rain and the puddles is from H2Os.

I really took a shine to this new set having seen so many hummingbirds last year when we were in Minnesota.  I had seen them before on trips to California but it wasn't until we went to the Amish area near Harmony last year that I saw so many so close - when we sat on the deck they were buzzing our heads!

I shared a card last week using one stamp from this set and another of my cards is on the MFP site but I will show you it here as well.  Both cards were stamped in Memento inks and coloured with Copics.  Some Stickles were also used but you can't see that in the photos!

This last card just uses the sentiment from the set.  This one uses the VLVFeb2013 Week 3 sketch and this week's JUGS colours (well as close as I had in pigment inks)  I also used the Dogwood Blossoms  and resist techniques to create the panel. 3 different leaf die cuts were used.

I have two good luck cards to share with you today using the Lots of Luck set.  The top one I think is masculine enough to be sent to a guy, but my second card is more feminine.  Both images were coloured with Copics and foam pads were used to give a little dimension when layering up.  Make sure you check out what the rest of the team have done with today's set.

MFP New Release week

For this weeks FOSTV challenge please see the post below.

It is Release Week at Marks Finest Papers (a Heinrich Company) and there are lovely sets being released tomorrow.  As design team members we get to play with them early and today we are previewing some sets that are not part of this week's blog hop.

My first card, very pink, uses the set called Love Script which I have stamped on some card pre-sponged with distress inks and lightly stamped with perfect pearls and the rose from Love Remains.  I also used the same rose from Love Remains stamped and coloured with distress inks and water as the focus.  Ribbon, pearls and die cuts in silver - I think this would work lovely for an anniversary.  I am entering this card for the challenges

Penny Black and More - Pink, Pearly and Swirly
Ribbon Carousel - Love in in the Air
Wags n Whiskers - Love

This next card, its inside and the last card all use the Mini set this month called Big Cupcake.  Copics were used to colour all of these.  Stickles were added to the last one.

Thank you for coming to check these outs.  Don't forget to come back tomorrow when the Blog Hop begins in earnest.

FOSTV60 - Recipe Card

Hi - Today's challenge over at FOSTV is to make a Recipe Card.  Now I am not a great collector of recipes, I collect them and then don't organise them or find them again when I want to use them.

The recipe I have on this card today is an exception in terms of use - it is so well used that the original is on paper that is really tatty and the recipe is hardly legible.  I remember scribbling it down when we were first married as Mum dictated it over the phone.  Well it was time to correct things so I have typed it up and mounted it up and I will laminate it so it is easy to keep clean.  I did a second one so I can give it to my nephew and maybe my sister will supervise him making it.

If you want the recipe please just email me - I am sure Mum won't mind.  In fact there is a funny story that goes with this recipe that I will share with you.

When I was about 14 I worked as a Saturday girl in a local bakers.  The couple that owned it were not born in the UK (Willi was from Germany and his wife Henrietta was from Czechoslovakia) so had some lovely recipes but not one for bread pudding.
Bakers have left over bread and buns frequently so Henrietta was searching for ways to use them - she found a recipe for Bread and Butter pudding and tried that!  Bread and Butter pudding is a dessert and needs to be eaten with a spoon - not something you can cut up and serve in slices in a shop!
I was talking with them one day when clearing up and mentioned my Mum and her bread pudding.  Henrietta contacted Mum and wanted to exchange recipes - she was not used to people being prepared to just give them!  Well Bread Pudding went on to the Bakery goods and lots of local workmen came and bought it to have with their morning or afternoon Cuppa!

Well finally here are my recipes all poshed up!

We would love to see your interpretation of this week's challenge which you can find over at Speedy TV as FOSTV Challenge 60.  There are plenty of other challenges at Speedy TV too so lots of stamp sets to win.  The winner of this week's challenge will get the set called Oh Beans.

Have fun with this challenge!

MFP Sneak Peek!

I rarely get round to showing sneak peeks of upcoming releases so tonight I am breaking that habit to share with you a card made using some Marks Finest Papers (a Heinrich Company) stamps being released next week.  Do make sure you check out the Blog Hop posts next Tuesday through Friday.

This card uses two new sets Hum Along and Love Script.  Love script was stamped and embossed on some patterned paper.  The hummingbird and sentiment from Hum Along was stamped with Memento Black and coloured with Copics.  A simple card but it hopefully gives you a taste of what is to come.

Happy Valentines Day.

Hope your Friday goes well and you have a wonderful weekend.
