High Hopes Buttons & Snowflakes

I played this afternoon with this High Hopes image and added another card to my Christmas pile.  The challenge from High Hopes was to use buttons and snowflakes so I pulled out these fancy buttons and used them with this cute snowman.  I managed to find 3 small ones to fit on his front and then added the 3 large ones in amongst the snowflakes.

Week where life takes over?

Have you ever had a week, I am sure you have, where life takes over?  The last few weeks have been very odd but the last 10 days even more so.  Both my Mum and my Mother in law have been unwell and dealing with 2 other people's issues on top of your own just blows any plans out of the water.  I did, in a quite spell on Monday, manage to get this card made but it didn't make it to my blog.
I planned to enter the card for 3 challenges - Daring Cardmakers Colour challenge which closed on Friday, VLV November Week 1 (the first time in months I have made the card in week 1!) and this months Penny Black challenge for Cute Christmas.  At least it can still go into 2 challenges.

There is glitter on the stars and moons but it does not show on the card photo.  The image is from Penny Black and the sentiment from Verve. Paper is from My Minds Eye.

FOSTV 45 - Anything Goes

Hello - it's Monday again and it is time for another Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week you can all play along as the challenge is anything goes - so what are you waiting for - we would love to see what you create.
There is a prize on offer to one lucky participant of one of the MFP sets ad this week the set is called Christmas Bridge.

As this was an anything goes this week I used the opportunity to make a card using one of the new releases, On The Fly, for my Brother-in-Laws Birthday later this month.  I used white embossing powder, lots of inks for sponging and then some H2Os on the fish to give them some shimmer.

I then decided to make another card in a completely different style, a further card to add to my Christmas collection.  I made this one as a twisted easel card.  I used the trees and sentiment from the All is Calm set, and the snowflakes from the Ice and Snow stamp set.  I added glitter to the snowflakes and the flowers on the base.

Santa Fur Baby

I seem to be going through a red patch with my cards right now but I think the red suits this guy no end so please forgive me if you don't like bright red.   The image is from High Hopes and the sentiment is from Marks Finest Papers.  I am entering this for CCC12, this weeks Jugs sketch challenge and also for this last week's High Hopes challenge "Fur or Feathers".
The image was stamped with Memento black and coloured with Copics.  The sentiment is stamped with the darkest red in my Kaleidacolor Desert Heat set.  The border punch is from Martha Stewart but mine has one of the tiny pins missing - what a pain!

God bless
Janine

Waltzing Silhouette

I made this card using the Waltzingmouse Sketch and the OCC challenge to use a silhouette.  I have used a combination of Tim Holtz stamps and Waltzingmouse ones.  An EK success border punch was used on the red paper behind the pearlescent white strip. The snowman was stamped on black and then embossed with white embossing powder.

Another Christmas card towards my November set.

Thank you for dropping in - enjoy the rest of the weekend, if you can.

Daring Cardmakers - Let There Be Light

This is another last minute card made for the Daring Cardmakers challenge - Let There Be Light.  I have used the lamp from the recently released set by Marks Finest Papers called Poinsettia Blooms.  I chose to emboss the lamp with pewter powder, but would not do it again!  The yellow was sponged with distress ink and the rest was coloured with Copics - although the paper surface wasn't too great with them!  I used a Spellbinders die along the bottom and wove the ribbon through it for TLC401.  The sentiment is die cut with a Cheery Lynn die.  The background paper is MME.

Thanks for looking and hope your Friday goes smoothly.

VLV Oct 2012

Week 1 - MFT Stamps

Week 2 - Verve Stamps

Week 3 - MFT Stamps & MFP Stamps

Week 4 - Verve Stamps plus unknown

Week 5 - MFP Stamps
The 5 cards above are all for this month's VLV challenge, they are in order - weeks 1 to 5.  I struggled with week 1 sketch, got all the cards eventually made at the weekend and then forgot to post them up!  So sorry I would normally do 5 posts but time is of the essence as it is deadline day!
Thanks for looking.

Waltzing in Black and White

I made this card using the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge 121 from Saturday as a basis.  I used both white and black embossing powders and both colours of card too -  as if you needed telling.  The stamps are from Waltzingmouse.  I used a red background to my photo as neither of my normal backgrounds worked!  Gems have been added to the "twinkles" on the ornaments.

I am also counting this towards my CCC12 for November and adding it to the Stampin Sisters In Christ challenge as a 2nd entry.

October Christmas Cards - 1 to 6

I realised today that some of my CCC12 cards I made on 1st of this month had not even been posted, and I need to have them all linked by tomorrow.  The image is from Chocolate Baroque and it was embossed in gold and then painted with some pearly paint (various types).

For all the cards I used Splitcoast sketch challenges.  I used Spellbinders dies on the first two and an embossing folder on the second.  On the first card I grabbed the gold embossing powder and on the others my Copics.  I took some sponges and inks to the second card.  The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed an appearance or two of the poinsettias from yesterday's stamp set.

MFP October Blog Hop - Christmas Selections

Welcome to Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Company's
   October Blog Hop!

This month's New Stamp Set Releases are
Christmas Selections Featured October 23
Poinsettia Blooms Featured October 24
Cracked Hello Featured October 25
On The Fly Featured October 26

This month I offered to make one of the additional cards and was asked to use this set.  To be honest I was panicking about having to make more than one card with tiny little stamps, which incidentally I often lose track of, but once I got the stamps and started there was no stopping me!
Christmas Selections Watermark

This first card uses SC235 for my layout and the santas from the set plus the Ho! from Holly Jolly Greetings

This second card uses the sketch SC321 and I remembered my little Cuttlebug strips when it came to the little red strip.  The santa and snowmen are from the set (I think one is a snow woman!) and the sentiment from the set we are showing tomorrow - Poinsettia Blooms.

For this card I used my Spellbinders mittens die and two of the little birds.  The sketch I used was SC329.  I coloured the mittens with Copics doing the background first so I could give it a little texture.

My last card uses the technique from TLC399 but instead of water I used a pearl mist.  I used the poinsettia, pine cone and church from the set.  I may make some more of these and use them as little "thank you" cards.

This is a great set!

Worship the King

Our Creative Corner challenge used a picture of the Queen Mother as the inspiration picture with the requirements to use a crown and have something yellow or gold embossed.  My original thought process was to use a Hero Arts London Collage stamp with a small picture of the Queen but then as I need Christmas cards (CCC12) my thoughts went to my digital images and the real king so this is where this card comes from - a long way from the picture - sorry!

I used the Jugs 157 sketch.  I have used both gold embossing (on the background, star and the crowns) and yellow (on the ground and straw).

Thanks for looking

Dashing through the snow!

For my FOSTV distressing challenge please see post below

Sometimes I am spoilt for choice and today that was the case - stamps to choose, ideas in my head but where to start?
I started with this High Hopes image which is so cute and coloured it so I could give it to a nephew who supports Chelsea. The sketch is SC239 and I am entering the card for High Hopes Winter WonderlandSentimental Sundays anything goes as well as counting it for my CCC12 allocation in October.

I coloured the image with Copics (B29, B28, B26, B24, B23, R39, R37, E49, E47, E44, C5,C3, C1, E43, E41 and some B000) and the background with Pan Pastels.  The papers are from Doodlebug - for once I remembered to check before I stuck them down.

I hope you like the card.  Thanks for looking

Penny Black World Card Making Day

This is a very quick post as it is way past my bed time.  I have made these 4 cards for today's challenges n the Penny Black Blog in celebration of World Card Making Day.
I used Christmas themes so I could count them towards my October set for CCC12.  I have another 6 cards made so going well this month.- I will post the others up sometime soon.

Hope you had a good day

Playing the numbers game

I wanted to make a card for this weeks Jugs challenge which was a wild card one to include a number but I also wanted to try and improve my Christmas card collection.  I also decided to try and make the card in line with the Sentimental Sundays 3-2-1 challenge - yet more numbers.

This is the card I came up with.  It has 1 image (the santa from Holly Jolly Greetings), 2 sentiment panels (can't remember the company) and 3 gems to finish the card at the bottom.

I used the SC403 sketch but turned it to a vertical rather than horizontal strip.  The ink is Memento Rusty Hinge sponged and then stamped.  The holly is just embellished with Copics.

Thank you for checking this out.

4 Jolly Snowmen

Hi again - if you read my earlier post for today you would know I was on a mission to get my Christmas cards for September completed - 12 per month is my aim and I think this little bunch completes the set.  If you see another post you will know I can't count!

These 4 snowmen I have to say I really like - nothing to do with my colouring I just think it is a wonderful image (Serendipity).  I hope you like them too.

Penny Black & CCC12 September

OK it is the last day in September and I have not completed my 12 cards - yes it is going to be a busy day.  Here are two cards made with Penny Black images I water coloured.

Both are very simple cards using the same cute image which I have just mounted in different ways.

This one uses buttons and bows - well a single bow but 3 buttons!

Count Your Winter Blessings

This card was born from an old button!  When we were in the USA recently our friends took us to an Antique Fair because they love picking up all sorts of collectables.  I wasn't too sure about it but it was a beautiful day and we could just browse so no harm done.  One of my recent "spur of the moment" purchases had been some Pebeo paints although I hadn't been brave enough to play.  I started looking round at the fair for old cheap things I could use to "play on" and I found some big buttons.  Well having created a "new button" I needed something to do with it and today's Speedy Fox and Friends challenge to use circles got me started.
The large snowflake is made with Spellbinders dies, carefully assembled and then sprayed with glimmer mists and perfect pearls.  The large button was added to the centre.  The card base was sponged with two shades of ink through a mask - I used Memento Lulu Lavender and Adirondack Eggplant.  The sentiment from MFP Snow Gifts was stamped in Memento Elderberry.

I am entering this card in 3 challenges
Speedy Fox and Friends - use Circles
Stampin Sisters in Christ - handmade ( I hope it counts)
CCC12 - another one for September!

Thanks for checking this out and stopping by - hope you are having a great weekend.

MFP September Stamps - 5th Set preview

Tomorrow is the start of Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Company's September Blog Hop!

Today I am showing you a card made with a set which is part of the September release but is not part of the hop.

The set is called Holly Jolly Greetings.  I used 14th September Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch for this card but used a Spellbinders shape rather than a basic rectangle.

Please pop back tomorrow to see more new goodies and for your chance to win some of the new sets.

VLV September Week4 & more

OK I told you another card would follow.  This one is a little crazy and shows a sneak peak of a set being released by Marks Finest Papers, A Heinrich company this week called Tweet That.

I have used the colours from this week colour challenge (CC393), the layout from VLV week 4 and the little bird and sentiment from the new set.  I have paired it with a sentiment from the Christmas Greetings set.

Run over to the MFP store in a couple of days and you will find all the goodies.  Pop back here and to my team mates blogs and you could win some goodies - the hop starts Tuesday.
