FOSTV155 - Pink and Brown

Our Friends challenge is a colour challenge this week and the colours are pink and brown.  The card I made was mailed to a friend in San Diego for her Birthday several days ago - yes I managed to get ahead on my assignments!

We have been in Cornwall for the weekend and we certainly knew winter still had its grip with cold winds and then loads of rain.  However there are signs of spring - baby lambs and spring bulbs peeping through.  The scenery is stunning in Cornwall and it was lovely to get away.

My card uses the Umbrellas and Fans set launched in 2014 by MFP Stamp Shop and one of my favourites last year.  Papers used were from my stash.  The sketch I followed was from Splitcoaststampers SC523.

Umbrellas at the ready again this week but hopefully parasols in the summer.  Enjoy your week whatever the weather.

MFP 2014 Favourites Blog Hop - 29th January 2015

Welcome to the Marks Finest Papers Stamp Shop
 January Blog Hop.

We're doing something different to start out the new year. We're looking back at all the wonderful sets released in 2014. For the next 4 days the Design Team will show you their "Favourite" sets of 2014. Please visit each blog and leave a comment. One person will be chosen to receive their choice of one of the "Favourite" Stamp Sets we have featured.

Today I have a card from January last year to share.  It uses the set called Umbrellas and Fans.  I used a stencil and stamp on the background.

Please hop along with us! You have a chance to win a "Favourite" Set of your choice! Just comment on the following blogs (don't forget this one), each day for more chances to win! (You do NOT have to comment on all the blogs each day! The names are drawn randomly!) The winner will be announced on
Jan. 31, 2015 on the MFP Stamp Shop blog. You can go back and comment if you missed a day. (HINT: The more you comment, the more chances you have to win and comments on the MFP blog count twice!)
The deadline for
commenting is 10 PM EST on Friday Jan. 30, 2014

Let's get started!!

I participated in last week's hop but you will also find my cards at the end of today's hop.  Please visit all the blogs in the list below.

Using Asian Delights as well - this card uses cranberry embossing powder and shades of pink ink

Using Be Virtuous as well.  The fan was masked so I could stamp the leaves and sponge through the stencil to make the background.  The sentiment is cut with a Spellbinders die.

Here's the Design Team for this week's hop:

Come on back tomorrow for more creativity.

FOSTV107 - Black and White

Where has the day gone - well fighting with my printer after upgrading to Windows 8.1, preparing loads of questions and answers on perimeter, area and volume and then finding my student needed help with a completely different topic - all good fun!  Sorry this post is late though.

This week over at FOSTV we are making projects in black and white - we all did cards this week but you can make anything fitting the theme as long as it is something new and you only enter it for one Marks Finest Papers challenge.

My card has an oriental flavour but I have not designated it for any particular occasion - sometimes when I don't have a recipient in mind I prefer to leave them this way.

The flowers have been spritzed with a glimmer spray so look far prettier in real life and the white piece stamped with the umbrellas and fans was also embossed.  The Asian ladies are from the set called Asian Delights and the umbrellas and fans are from a new set called Umbrellas and Fans.

Please join us in this challenge; we would love to see what you create.  Hope you have a good week.
