MFP May Blog Hop - Day 3

Welcome to the MFP Stamp Shop May Blog Hop

This month's new Stamp Set Releases are:

Featured May 26 - Tree Scene

Featured May 27 - Animal Birthdays

Featured May 28 - Pots and Vases
I had some fun with today's set. I ended up with two cards - one using a glass vase and the other two pots.
For my first card with the vase I used flowers from the set called Lots of Words. I used some Card Candi and a border punch.

For my second card I also needed to pull out the Bring on the Sun stamp set. I am not sure if anyone in the USA knows of Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men - a TV show when we were kids - Black and White and you can see the puppet strings! As you can imagine they were made of flower pots and were called Bill and Ben. The flower was called Little Weed. They lived in two big pots at the bottom of the garden and got up to their antics when the gardener wasn’t around. It was a program (part of our Watch with Mother series) that used to be on the TV when we were kids. It was all so innocent! My brother gets this card when he turns 60 later in the year.
 This card was watercoloured.

Featured May 29 - Tree Scene Selections

FOSTV117 - 3 or more Brads

Hi - sorry to be late posting today but I was too tired to type and pre-schedule this last night.  Last week was a crazy one for health issues with Mum's and included 4 falls - 2 each.  Falls at any age aren't great but when you are in your senior years the body doesn't cope too well.  I am hoping for less drama this week and praying for healing.

The card I have today uses the Marks Finest Papers Sunflowers from the Bring on the Sun set with 3 brads made using some DP and my I-top brad maker.  I asked for the brad maker for Christmas the year they were all the rage but to be honest it sits unused most of the time.  I used the biggest size brad for the flower centres.  I sent this card to a friend being treated for cancer who was having a tough time a little while ago - you will see her Birthday card on Wednesday.

Please join in our FOSTV challenge this week - you have until Sunday and there is a prize on offer to one lucky participant.  Full details can be found here http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/friends-of-speedy-tv-challenge-117-3-or-more-brads-03-24-14.

Our Garden mini hop starts tomorrow so check out the Marks Finest Papers blog and don't forget to drop back here Wednesday.

Thanks and have a great week.

FOSTV46 - Scrapbook Page

Despite the good intentions when taking photos I have not done a scrapbook in ages, in fact I have only ever done two and they took me months to do. I have never been to any classes and I know I put too many photos on a page but take it or leave it this is me!

FOSTV challenge 46 to make a scrapbook page was a tough one as life has been crazy here.  Both Mums are unwell and I am busy trying to document my job before I leave on Friday.  They gave me redundancy but did not appreciate what my team did!  Obviously my next task is finding another job!

Anyway back to the scrapbook.  We visited friends in Minnesota in late August and early September and they made something happen for me that I have wanted to do for ages.  I wanted to see how the Amish live and meet some of the people if I could.  We went to the Lanesboro / Harmony area in MN - the Amish life is hard, very simple and they seem very happy.

This is the double page spread

This is the close up of the left page showing snippets from all the lovely quilts in the cottage.

This is a close up of the right page

For those of you without x-ray vision this is what it says on my page
"Cozy Quilt Cottage was the wonderful, peaceful place Chris and Jules booked for our visit to see how the Amish live.  Ann who owns the cottage made us so welcome, along with Charley of course.  Every nook and cranny of the cottage held quilts of some sort.

The first night there was a lively one with the most amazing storm hitting the area and watching it come across the corn fields was spectacular.  The humming birds, butterflies and restful nature of the place made it a special time.  3 large deer even paid us a visit!"

In terms of stamps sets used on my pages here are the details - they are all from Marks Finest Papers
The sunflowers are from  "Bring on the Sun"
The butterflies are from "Daffodil Greetings" and "Cracked Hello"
The Amish carriage is from "A Trip to Lancaster"
The word Silence is from "Christmas in the Country"
The sentiment about nature is from "Words of Nature Mini"

The "corn" die is one of the new D-Lites from Spellbinders and all colouring is done with Copics.

We would love to see your scrapbook pages this week for FOSTV46 and there will be a MFP set (Christmas Cardinals as shown below) as a prize for one lucky participant.  If you cannot cope with a 12" page why not do an 8" one or even  6" one.

Have a great week.

I have 3 cards to share with you all today made with this lovely sunflower set.

My first card uses masking to get a row of sunflowers and I used a border punch to echo the sunny shape and feel.

My second card just embossing on the background to show off the sunflower with bees.   I actually had to pop to my local wool shop to get the yellow ribbon as there was no yellow to be found in my stash.
This is a close up of the embossed bees!

My last card uses the sunny yellow card I used on card one as a border for the main panel.

I stamped and embossed before colouring.  The matt layer is brown.
