Week 5 Friends of Speedy TV

This week's challenge is a Free For All so I made two cards - one is for Christmas and uses the SC356 sketch.  The other is autumnal and uses this week's Sisters in Christ challenge colours of  Crimson, Orange and Gold.  Both cards use the set Walk in the Woods

Good job she is light!

I think it is a good job this girl is nice and slim and the present remains un-crushed.

I recently went to a class at the Glitter Pot with Alexandra Kamann where we were learning about colouring with Copics and this was an image we got to play with.  During the class we coloured a non-Christmas version and stuck flowers over the holly so she could be used for spring card.  This version is for MMSC127

Mind the Woodwork

This card is for a Penny Black sketch challenge and uses an image from a lovely new PB set I bought recently at the Glitter Pot.  I have both friends and neighbours with cats so there will be plenty of homes for this card..

Thank you for looking

VLVOct2011 Week 4

Sorry it has been a while.  Yes I am still coughing but feel a lot better than I did this time last week.  I have had two plays with VLVOct2011 sketch for week 4 and neither is quite right but I still like elements of them both and they will get added to the Christmas card pile that still needs a few more additions.

This was my first take on it
And this was my second take

I hope you are in good health.  Thank you for looking.

Its hard to create when all you keep doing is cough!

I have been fighting with a cough since Wednesday and it has been getting progressively worse so being creative is quite a challenge.  I have been making cards mainly with images I had already stamped and even then they aren't totally fitting the challenge I started on so please forgive me.

This card is a close as I got to MMSC126 but I couldn't bring myself to add a second holly and cover up my sky.
The stamps used on the panel are from Stampscapes and the holly is from Penny Black.

The second card also uses Stampscapes images but the card is not for any challenge

31st October Birthday

I don't really do Halloween but I had to buy this Doodlebug paper to make this little Birthday hat for this week's Waltzingmouse Challenge.  The colours are this week's Jugs colours.

Double Trouble

This week's Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge refers to the verse about Jesus sharing our burdens - a verse that I need right now with Mum in hospital and going through some tough times.

The challenge is to use double of everything - well I think I have done it - 2 digital images, 2 coloured card stocks (don't count white!), 2 designer papers, 2 tags for sentiment, 2 stars and 2 markers used for each colour in the image.  I have coloured with ProMarkers and used stars so it is also for the Pro Markers challenge this week.  Because it contains two folds, a joy fold card, I am also entering it in the Sentimental Sundays challenge this week - Fancy Folds

The images are from Bugaboo.

Jacob turns 12 today

Jacob has just returned to the UK from Ethiopia to start secondary school.  He has found it tough leaving all his friends behind and making new friends in an area he does not know.  I hope today, his Birthday, is a new beginning for him and that God will bless him with some new friends and class mates who will celebrate with him and be with him for all the challenges they will face going into their teens.  When he was away we sent Chelsea football shirts each Christmas so that is why the lad in this image has a blue shirt.

Speedy the Cat - Week 3

Well it is week 3 of the Friends of Speedy TV and the challenge for this week is Sweetest Day.
Well I blew it as I had no idea there was such an occasion and it was about your sweetheart - that to me is Valentines day.
So to explain my card - I thought it was about a sweetest day you could have so a lovely day on the beach (with my sweetheart of course) is what came to mind.  I hope you like my card - I would certainly want to be there!

Elves on the Steps

I found out about Bugaboo digital images when I did the digital class at My Creative Classroom and since then I have used them quite often.

I had forgotten about the Christmas steps and elf images and then came across them again so combined  them on these cards.  I mounted them simply as I did not want to detract from the main images.

Hope you like them.

Move the Builders Out and the Neighbours In

We will be so pleased when the builders move out and the new neighbours move in.  A tremendous amount of work is being done on the semi detached property that is attached to ours ready for our new neighbours to move in - a young couple and two sweet little girls!  I have made this card for them.  The two little mice snuggling up under the flower made me think of "new roof over their heads" - that is one thing that has not been replaced but lots of walls are coming down and others going up so the distressing is a reminder of all the dust!

I am entering the card for
Penny Black Saturday challenge 173
Jugs 106
VLVOct2011 Week 3
Splitcoast F4A86 - Cards with character

Penny Black Dusk

Had a little play with some of the sponging with distress inks that Jill Foster was showing on the Penny Black blog this week. I used Faded Jeans, Brushed Corduroy, Walnut Stain, Wild Honey and Fired Brick inks plus a Crafts Concepts embossing folder I purchased yesterday at the Glitter Pot.

Hope you like the finished card.

Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge Week 77 -Seeing Double

I have used SFF101411 with the Speedy Challenge to create a card with a repeated image.  I have used the seagull twice, the grass a few times and the flowers on the background many times too.  Now that it has turned chilly at night and in the morning I am dreaming of nice sandy beaches and balmy days!

Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge Week 76 - No Designer Paper

I decided to use the sketch SC354 and some coredinations cardstock with this lovely wintery tree from a "Walk in The Woods" with the sentiments from "Seasonal Poinsettias" on this card.  I wanted something a little more masculine for a change - I hope you like it.

I have used distressed inks and also a Spellbinders die, corner rounder, a holly leaf punch, an embossing folder and some gems.

Reddie the Robin

Not sure how many people remember Eddie the Eagle - a very average ski jumper we had in the UK but this is my version made with a digital image robin ski jumper!

The image is one of the Bugaboo winter birds and it is coloured with ProMarkers.  The sketch I have used is VLV October 2011 week 1 sketch and the border is made with Spellbinders edgeabilities. This card is also being entered for the Passion for ProMarkers Challenge 121 - Christmas Critters.

Have a good Friday and a great weekend.

OCC & SFF Snowman

A very quick post to get this card up before "I hit the pit"!   The image is one I love from Serendipity and I have used the OCC colours and the sketch from Sketch Frenzy Friday.  All very simple and straightforward.

Thank you to those who take the time and trouble to comment.

A Little Black Magic - Jugs 105

The first card uses Stampin Up Upsy Daisy
The technique challenge posed by the Jugs team this week was "Black Magic".

Thankfully this was nothing sinister and it just involved some white ink on dark card and coloured pencils.  I think I may have tried this once before but only on a small scrap and not on a card so making two is quite something!

The 2nd one uses a Crafty Individuals stamp

They are not the greatest examples of the technique but I am quite happy with them.

I hope you like them and your comments are most welcome.  Thank you

Gordon & Gertrude

This card again uses Marks Finest Paper African Veldt stamp set - I had no idea how much I would use this set but it is a great one to have.  I hope my new ones coming across the pond will work as well for me!
MFPSPEEDYTV challenge for week 2 is an Anniversary card so with a little bit of planning I created a mirror image of the giraffe and then stamped the original nice and close - all romantic like!  The sketch is a VLV one from Teresa so the heart shape was just perfect.  The paper was chosen for the anniversary theme and the sentiment and heart gems finished it off.

It's your 40th Birthday paint the town any colour you want to

This card combines several challenges - this week's sketch challenge from Splitcoast, this week's technique challenge from Splitcoast and the Penny Black Saturday challenge.

The technique was to use a simple pencil on your card and this is quite challenging as I am no artist but I found an HB pencil  in the pot and gave it a whirl on this cute Penny Black image.  I wish we could buy the sentiment with the word colour spelt as we do here but perhaps I am just fussy.

Thanks for looking and for your comments.  Janine

At the Farmyard Manger

The Saturday Penny Black challenge for 1st October is called Down on the Farm - I hope being in the stable counts!  I think this image is really cute so had to use it for my challenge card and to add to my stack for Christmas.  As well as the Penny black challenge I am also entering it for this week's Color Throwdown and also for the MMSC124 sketch (which I have rotated 90 degrees)

Penny Black Christmas Collage

This card was inspired by a beautiful one that Peet Roeven presented this week on the Penny black blog.  I have turned mine into one that you can hang but I am afraid I don't have the patience to do all the cutting to get an even more 3D effect.  I love this stamp but it is quite tricky to see the details of the design for cutting out! I hope you like my card anyway.

I have used Spellbinders dies, Versamark with white embossing powder, Distress inks, Stickles and Perfect Pearls, red ribbon plus a touch of Copic pens.

Jugs104 Sketch

Why is is that some sketches look wonderful and then when you try to make a card you can't make it work?  I have played with this one on and off all week but today I gave in and just made a card.  It is not a great card but I seem to be struggling to do great cards right now so I am showing my card "warts and all"..  The sentiment is from Penny Black the patterned paper from American crafts and the sketch from Jugs 104.  The snowflakes are Spellbinders die cuts with one small red punched one.    Thanks for looking.

Mum is OK

Thanks to everyone who prayed for my Mum.  She has had surgery and is in intensive care but doing OK.  Going to see her very soon.

Quick Post

This is a quick post of a Waltzingmouse card I actually completed for their latest challenge.  I have noted down sketches for the last couple of months but only made 2 or 3 cards in that time.  This one is simple using an ornament image that matches a Spellbinders die.  The background is done using a Marianne embossing / cutting folder.

Friends of Speedy TV - Masculine card

The first challenge for friends of Speedy TV is to make a masculine card.  As a new member of the team I thought it would be good to join the party so here is my card using the African Veldt set.

More snowmen

Here we are basking in sunshine and I am colouring snowmen.  The weather forecast implies snow later this month so perhaps then I will be colouring sandy beaches and sunny flowers.  This card uses Penny Black snowmen, some red paper from Craft Creations and navy blue.  I have used my new Spellbinders dies and a little glitter.  The card I stamped on wasn't the best for alcohol markers so I had to be careful how much ink I laid down..

Jolly Winter Wishes

This card, another for my Christmas collection, uses a cute High Hopes snowman and a Verve sentiment plus the Mojo208 sketch.

Making Christmas cards and doing Christmas shopping when we are having some of the hottest days this summer and certainly the hottest in October seems totally mad!

Chocolate Chip Bunny

This is going to be an interesting week and one of mixed emotions.  Today I am really excited starting my journey with Mark Finest Papers and the Friends of Speedy TV design team.  This is a really great opportunity for me to take my creating on a step further.
However, later this week I will be anxious as my Mum undergoes surgery on her spine.  This card is for her and if you believe in prayer please pray for her this week as it has been tough deciding to go ahead with this operation and I know she will be very worried about how she will cope.  She is one independent lady but she needs this operation to give her quality of life back but at the same time it is rather scary.

My card uses the beautiful bunny from the "In the forest" set and the get well soon from the "African Veldt" set - both Mark's Finest Papers.  The bright paper is from Bo Bunny and the polka dot paper is from Echo Park.  I have used Spellbinders dies and some flowers from my box.  I had to add that spotty button to finish it off!

The card is for 3 challenges
